Each year the Toronto District School Board hosts a unique event that promotes healthy living, and teaches selected student representatives a variety of techniques that they can use to improve the lifestyle of other students at their school. SchoolFit was invited to the day long event by host George Kourtis, Phys-Ed Curriculum Head for the TDSB, and we were pleased to attend! Over 50 schools took part in the event, with 4 student ambassadors from each school in attendance.

The goal of the event was to teach these students effective methods which they could implement within their home school to bolster interest in health conscious living. Our SchoolFit Spin-A-Thon program was a perfect fit for this event! We provided a team of SchoolFit professionals to demonstrate this unique fundraising solution. The Spin-A-Thon is implemented in schools to raise much needed funds that are to be allocated toward the purchase of much needed fitness products, allowing the host school to greatly improve their fitness program.

Our mini Spin-A-Thon featured 20 Star Trac Spinning bikes, and professional instruction provided by Harmony Fitness in Toronto. The full scale Spin-A-Thon event can be as large as 100 bikes with up to 400 participants, and has the potential to raise up to $40,000 for the fitness program at your school!
